- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into rectangles.
- Place a tablespoon of cream cheese filling on one half of each rectangle, leaving a border.
- If using frozen blueberries, toss them with cornstarch. Layer blueberries on top of the filling.
- Fold pastry over filling and press edges to seal, crimping with a fork for decoration.
- Whisk egg and milk together for egg wash. Brush over the tops of each pastry.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
