  2. Add the sweet onions and brown sugar; cook low and slow for 45–55 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once caramelized, stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Deglaze the pan with dry white wine, scraping up browned bits, and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire sauce; cool completely.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise; blend until smooth.
  7. Fold the cooled onion mixture into the creamy base, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with reserved caramelized onions and chives, serve immediately or refrigerate.
