  • 2 medium Apples Use firm varieties like Honeycrisp or Gala.
  • 1 large Egg Substitute with a flaxseed mixture for a vegan alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons Milk Switch to non-dairy milk for a vegan-friendly option.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Can be replaced with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Crushed cereal or panko can be a great substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Adjust based on your preference.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Optional if you're watching your sugar intake.

Equipment

  • air fryer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by washing your apples thoroughly to remove any dirt. Carefully slice them into ¼-inch rings, ensuring you remove the core from each ring.
  2. After slicing the apples, use a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to pat them dry.
  3. Next, create a dipping station by arranging three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, the second with a beaten egg and milk, and the third with breadcrumbs combined with cinnamon and sugar.
  4. Dip each apple ring into the flour mixture, then into the egg wash, and finally press it into the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, arrange the coated rings in a single layer, and cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Once cooked, let the rings rest for a minute before serving warm, optionally sprinkling with powdered sugar or drizzling with honey.
