Method
 

Instructions
  1. Warm the milk and combine with yeast and sugar in a bowl for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt in a large bowl, then add the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
  4. Let dough rise in a greased bowl for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread softened butter, sprinkle sugar and optional flavorings over the dough.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and slice into pieces.
  8. Let the shaped Snails rise for 30-45 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
