  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 2 Large Eggs or flax/chia seed substitutes
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract optional

  • 1/4 cup Water room temperature

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare raisins by warming them with orange juice in a saucepan for about 5 minutes. Drain and let cool.
  2. Combine all-purpose flour, orange zest, ground cinnamon, kosher salt, and ground nutmeg in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, active dry yeast, and brown sugar. Let it sit until foamy.
  4. Cream together melted unsalted butter and brown sugar, then mix in eggs, vanilla extract, and cooled raisins, followed by dry ingredients and yeast mixture.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 45 to 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the risen dough into 15 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
  7. Prepare the cross mixture by combining flour and water into a paste, then pipe crosses onto the risen buns.
  8. Bake the buns at 350°F for 22 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after baking.
