Step-by-Step Instructions for Vegetarian Hot and Sour Soup Recipe
  1. In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of grated ginger and 2 cloves of minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Pour in 4 cups of vegetable broth and bring to a gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add 1 cup of sliced mushrooms, 1 cup of julienned carrots, and 1 cup of bamboo shoots. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of chili garlic sauce, and ½ teaspoon of white pepper. Allow to marry for 2 minutes.
  5. Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of cold water. Slowly pour into the soup while stirring, and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
