- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta until slightly underdone, about 7-8 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add minced garlic, then stir in marinara sauce and season with salt and black pepper. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Combine the drained pasta with the beef mixture and transfer to the greased baking dish.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
