  • 1 lb Ground Beef Opt for an 85/15 blend for juiciness
  • 1 Medium Onion Finely diced; can be swapped with shallots
  • 2 Garlic Cloves Minced; fresh is ideal
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce Rao's Homemade recommended for quality
  • Salt To taste
  • Black Pepper To taste
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Shredded; mozzarella can substitute

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta until slightly underdone, about 7-8 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Add minced garlic, then stir in marinara sauce and season with salt and black pepper. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Combine the drained pasta with the beef mixture and transfer to the greased baking dish.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  7. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
