For the Topping
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Pecans or rolled oats for nut-free option

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Pierce each sweet potato multiple times with a fork, place on a baking sheet, and bake for about 1 hour until tender.
  3. Once baked, scoop out the sweet potato flesh into a mixing bowl and mash until smooth. Stir in sugar, eggs, salt, melted butter, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and spices until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and flour, then cut in softened butter until resembling coarse crumbs.
  5. Fold in chopped pecans into the crumb mixture, then layer on top of the sweet potato filling.
  6. Pour the sweet potato filling into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the pecan topping over it. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
