Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Pierce each sweet potato multiple times with a fork, place on a baking sheet, and bake for about 1 hour until tender.
- Once baked, scoop out the sweet potato flesh into a mixing bowl and mash until smooth. Stir in sugar, eggs, salt, melted butter, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and spices until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and flour, then cut in softened butter until resembling coarse crumbs.
- Fold in chopped pecans into the crumb mixture, then layer on top of the sweet potato filling.
- Pour the sweet potato filling into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the pecan topping over it. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
