Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 1 1/4 cups of butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30 seconds until liquefied.
  2. Combine the melted butter with 2 cups of quick oats, 1 cup of flour, and 1 cup of brown sugar in a bowl until crumbly.
  3. Press 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch pan.
  4. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and bake the crust for 10 minutes.
  5. In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter and stir in 1 cup of brown sugar until smooth.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of flour slowly, stirring to thicken.
  7. Simmer the caramel mixture for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  8. Pour the warm caramel over the cooled crust.
  9. Sprinkle the reserved crust mixture over the caramel layer.
  10. Reduce oven temperature to 300°F (150°C) and bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Cool completely, then slice into bars.
