- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Stir in 1 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dry mixture until smooth and slightly thick.
- Pour the melted butter into the greased baking dish.
- Gently pour the banana batter over the melted butter without stirring.
- Slice 2 to 3 ripe bananas and layer them evenly over the batter.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of light brown sugar generously over the banana layers.
- Slowly pour 1 cup of hot water over the entire mixture. Do not stir!
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Allow the cobbler to rest for 10 minutes before serving warm, ideally topped with vanilla ice cream.
