- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain linguine.
- In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add 2-3 cloves of minced garlic, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the zest and juice of one lemon into the skillet, cooking for about 1 minute.
- Add the drained linguine to the skillet, tossing to coat with the sauce. Pour in some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Sprinkle in ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese, tossing the pasta until cheese melts and combines with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Remove from heat and garnish with parsley if desired. Serve immediately.
