Ingredients
  

For the Fish
  • 4 fillets Tilapia or mahi mahi or salmon as alternatives
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or neutral oil
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice or bottled lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder adjust for spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin or smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder or fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper preferably freshly ground
For the Taco Assembly
  • 8 tortillas Corn tortillas or flour tortillas for a gluten-free option
  • 2 cups Shredded red cabbage or green cabbage or slaw mix
  • 2 medium Ripe avocado or guacamole
  • 1 cup Chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
  • 1 cup Mexican crema or sour cream, Greek yogurt works too
  • 2 wedges Lime for squeezing

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Marinate the fish by whisking together olive oil, fresh lime juice, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Coat tilapia fillets in the marinade and let them sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat, about 400°F. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill the marinated tilapia fillets for 3-5 minutes on each side until flaky. Remove and let rest for 2 minutes before breaking into large flakes.
  4. Warm corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet for about 30-60 seconds on each side to make them pliable.
  5. Assemble the tacos by spreading a layer of Mexican crema or sour cream on each tortilla, adding the grilled tilapia flakes, red cabbage, avocado, cilantro, and lime juice.
  6. Serve immediately on a platter with extra lime wedges.
