Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a Devil’s Food cake mix according to the package instructions, pouring the batter into a greased cake pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, add 2 cups of heavy cream. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream on medium speed until soft peaks form, then continue until light and fluffy, taking care not to over-whip.
- Crumble the cooled cake into bite-sized pieces in a trifle dish. Start with a layer of cake crumbles, then add a layer of whipped cream, drizzle with caramel, and sprinkle toffee bits. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
- Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld and the whipped cream set.
- Serve by scooping out portions, ensuring each has layers of cake, cream, caramel, and toffee. Drizzle with extra caramel syrup or add more toffee bits if desired.
