  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened, neufchâtel cheese is a lower-fat swap
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter Almond butter can be used as an alternative
  • 1/2 cup Melted Butter
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar Essential for thick filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Milk or dark chocolate can be used

Method
 

Prepare Cake Base
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Mix the chocolate cake mix with eggs, oil, and water until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan.
Mix the Creamy Filling
  1. Beat softened cream cheese until creamy. Gradually mix in melted butter and peanut butter until silky.
  2. Add vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
Thicken the Filling
  1. Incorporate powdered sugar into the peanut butter mixture until thick and spreadable.
Create Earthquake Effect
  1. Dollop filling mixture evenly on the chocolate batter and swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
Bake the Cake
  1. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the batter and bake for 40-45 minutes until edges are set and center is gooey.
